About Jane

I have also been a wife, mother, and grandmother. On both venues I have had to draw from my Christian faith and strength on many occasions. However, through it all I have managed to keep my beliefs and sense of humor in check.

My first recognition as a writer came at a very early age. My grandfather was not only an inventor, but he was also a very good storyteller. I loved hearing his stories about traveling across the country in a covered wagon, and the things they had to do to survive. So, I wrote these stories down. I emphasized some parts, and embellished where I could. People that read my stories seemed to like them. I turned them in for a grade. At that time, I was in the 5th grade. My teacher liked them so much that she placed them for show in the front office of the school. That’s where they stayed as long as I can remember. People just seemed to like whatever I wrote. I grew up, married, moved from Oklahoma to Texas. One day I received a phone call from my 5th grade teacher. Using information, she had received from my little brother. She had tracked me down. She sent me a large manilla envelop, with all my stories in it…and a note: “These are good, Janie. Ya might want to keep them.” 10—15 Years. She’d saved them all that time.

I have written a lot of poetry. I have written poems for people all over the world, and a couple of them have even been set to music. People just seemed to like them. I didn’t expect it to amount to much, until one day I came in from high school. There in my living room stood Rod Serling Producer, Director, and Voice of the TV Show “Twilight ZONE.” My sister and I had entered a contest in a magazine he was hosting for new recruits. He had come to get me, to take me back to California to a school for writers there. Based on my age, my parents didn’t agree.

Since I wasn’t allowed to attend a writer’s academy, I would like to say my training came via “trial and error.” That is not exactly true. I worked in a factory that manufactured airplane and rocket engine parts, as well as other casted manufactured pieces for such companies as GE, Rolls-Royce, and many others. The problem was when anyone was hired the training was so “willy nilly,” Quality suffered, and the employee suffered the blunt of the situation. The quality of these parts had to be practically perfect, or people could die. Via the poetry, they knew I could write. So, for the next 2 years. The Company had me write training processes, and procedures instructions on EACH & EVERY part that the Company made. I learned to be technical and tedious. That was in 1997. They are still using them today. But the true accolade came when the Owners and Dept. Managers from another plant doing similar castings toured the plant. I was asked to write and explain the wax injection casting process. It was received so well that they took my picture, and pictures of the process, as well as the pages I had written, back to their plant in Italy.

The book recently written, The Lifelong Adventures of Mr. Ted O. Bear, has not only a string of truth in each story. But each story has the potential to be a story line of its own. It has sold over 1000 copies and has been well received by the pickiest critics ever produced…CHILDREN. They wanted to know when I’m going to write another one… I have material for other children’s books as well. I also have material for two more adult genre books. “Love In a Bubble” and “Dancing with The Devil,” which are both different sides of the coin.
